Description
Mary Cecilia Cravens, standing, front, and Judy Fitzhugh, showing the first ever license plate issued on a car in Arlington, Texas, in 1905. The two young girls are standing in front of a house. Mary is holding the plate and Judy is standing behind her. They are the granddaughters of the late Doctor M. H. Cravens, owner of the car that was issued the license plate. Both girls are wearing coats and hats. Mary is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carlisle Cravens and Judy is the daughter of Lieutenant and Mrs. William Fitzhugh, all of Arlington, Texas. The license plate is now the property of Tom Cravens, son of Doctor Cravens. The license plate was used on a single cylinder Cadillac.
