Description
War Bond Sales. On display at the Quartermaster Depot is a two-man Japanese "suicide sub" which the United States captured at Pear Harbor. Left to right: Fred Line and Dan Gould watching E. L. Maxwell, owner of the Rosedale Lumber Company (right) buying bonds. The men are shown wearing dark, striped suits with brimmed hats and patterned ties. Line and Gould, leaders in the war bond drive appear to be smiling widely as Maxwell signs a check for the bond. The sub will be moved to a location in front of the Public Library for public inspection in the interest of war bonds. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, February 23, 1943.
