Description
Edward Madrigal, 9 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Madrigal, in the Fort Worth Children's Hospital. Edward is shown laying in a hospital bed wearing a thick robe, checkered house shoes with striped socks. He is smiling widely for the camera as he reads from a letter he received from home. Edward suffers from the uncommon Still's disease, a form of arthritis which causes swelling in his joints. His temperature soars from 101 to 105 degrees each afternoon and has to be given a sedative. Fort Worth pediatricians are seeing their first case of the ailment and are corroborating with specialist in an effort to relieve the boy. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, February 14, 1943.
