Description
2nd Class Carpenter C. L. Agee of the United States Navy. Agee is shown standing in front of a door with window. He is dressed in his naval uniform and appears to be smiling slightly at the camera. He has been involved in many sea battles off the Guadalcanal, including when the Japanese dealt blows to 11 vessels of the United States fleet. He is blinded by the smoke from the ship's own guns, ear-drums bursting from the salvo, Agee was able to see the churning wake of the torpedo only just before it struck the aft part of the Northampton's boat deck. He is the brother of Mrs. Vernon W. Jones. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, January 13, 1943.
