    Description

Among the nine boys of Lena Pope Home to join the Navy are left to right, twin brothers, Carl Fickle and Earl Fickle with unidentified boy. These boys graduated and were members of the Arlington Heights High School 75-pounder football team that took the city and state championship under All American Ki Aldrich, from Texas Christian University, were given added incentive to join the Navy by the fact that Aldrich is attached to the Norfolk base. The boys will go in training in Norfolk, Virginia. They bring to 124 the number of boys from the home now in the service. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, January 12, 1943.
