Description
Mrs. C. C. Schuchard is shown smiling at the camera as she performs a welding task for school. She is wearing the school's uniform that includes a pair of slacks and a button on her top that says "National Defense School". She is also wearing a wristwatch, a beaded necklace and makeup. Mrs. Schuchard is serving as an example as to what not to look like while performing war work. The women are expected to have their hair hidden, wear little makeup and remove all jewelry. This is to prevent any injuries on the job. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, January 7, 1943.
