Mrs. P. C. Grunewald is celebrating her 87th birthday and reflecting on the early days in Fort Worth, Texas. She came to America with her husband in 1871 from Hamburg, Germany. The couple first settled in Chicago, Illinois. They later moved to Fort Worth, where they owned a hotel and operated one of the early-day amusement parks. Mrs. Grunewald was widowed in 1926. She enjoys tending flowers, embroidery, and peppermint candy. She is shown sitting on a chair, wearing a dark dress and a cameo brooch.
