Description
Robert A. Thomas is a 26-year-old sailor with the United States Navy. He is spending a two-week furlough in Fort Worth, Texas, with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Thomas. Thomas, a first class machinist's mate, is stationed on the Cruiser San Francisco. His ship is undergoing repairs before the crew returns to sea. Thomas suffered minor injuries when his ship was in a battle with the Japanese. During the attack, Thomas worked with a party of firefighters to extinguish flames aboard the cruiser. Thomas is a graduate of North Side High School. He enlisted in the Navy in 1939 and was in Pearl Harbor during the attack. He is shown standing against a wall, dressed in his military uniform.
