Description
Special services were held at Chestnut Avenue Christian Church when three $2,100 notes were burned to signify a debt-free church. Shown preparing to send the cancelled notes into flames are, left to right, Reverend Grady Guyton, pastor, Clyde K. Russey, treasurer, and B. A. Hayes. The three men are standing around a small bucket, all wearing pinstripe, double-breasted suits. Russey is placing a note into the bucket. Two unidentified men are standing in the background, watching the proceedings.
