Description
Thousands of civilians and soldiers are attempting to travel this Christmas season. One of the victims of busy train stations and bus terminals is Corporal A. J. Rausch. He is shown sleeping on a bench at the Santa Fe Railroad Station after a chaotic day of travel. Corporal Rausch is stationed at Camp Bowie in Brownwood, Texas. He received an unexpected furlough and decided to spend Christmas with his family in Guttenburg, New Jersey. Corporal missed both the train and bus in Brownwood, Texas. Along with six other soldiers, he took a travel bureau car to Fort Worth, Texas. Just east of Stephenville, Texas, the car got a flat tire. Eighteen hours later, the soldier is waiting for a train in Fort Worth, Texas. He is dressed in his military uniform. Another soldier is sitting beside him, reading a newspaper.
