Description
Officers were elected and installed at the final sessions of the 55th annual encampment of the Grand Army of the Republic (G. A. R.) of Texas and the auxiliary, the Woman's Relief Corps, at Hotel Texas. Among those who attended the session were John Shearer, left, of Houston, Texas, commander of the Texas Department of the G. A. R., and Mrs. Martha Porter, of Fort Worth, Texas, senior vice president of the auxiliary. They are standing in front of a window with open blinds. Mr. Shearer is wearing a suit and Mrs. Porter is wearing a dress with lace detailing on the shoulders. Mr. Shearer is holding a walking cane in his left hand and holding his right hand to his temple.
