J. M. Thompson, 76 year old man knitting. Thompson is shown sitting in a chair with a pair of needles and an incomplete piece of knitwear in his lap. His mouth is slightly open, caught mid-sentence. He is wearing a pair of eyeglasses along with a vest and a pair of trousers. Behind him are windows with translucent curtains and a small table with a framed picture of a couple and a potted plant set on top of it. Thompson has knitted 25 soldier sweaters, 6 scarves and 7 pairs of socks for the war effort.
