Shown are Mrs. John J. Mahoney (left) and Mrs. Floyd A. Vollmer and her little daughter, Phyllis Joan. They are standing near the edge of the monument, gazing upon it. Joan is standing on the border of the monument and leaning on her mother. Mrs. Vollmer is holding her daughter's hand. She is wearing a jacket and a knee-length, dark skirt; her daughter is wearing a short-sleeved, dark dress; and Mrs. Mahoney is wearing a thick, fur coat with a dress underneath. Hero of the Spring Palace fire was Al Hayne, whose monument is here being inspected by them. Published in The Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, December 6, 1942.
