    U. S. Marine recruits Carl Weldon Cleveland (left) and Arthur Floyd Brown. "Happy because they made the grade to join the Marines and will be sent Saturday to San Diego for training are Carl Weldon Cleveland, left, and Arthur Floyd Brown, downtown Western Union messengers. In June when they tried to enlist, Carl was too young, Arthur under weight. Friday each met minimum requirements, being 17, weighing 115 pounds and measuring 64 inches in height. Carl is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard C. Cleveland, 700 1/2 Samuels. Arthur's mother is Mrs. Winnie Brown, 533 Grant." Each of the young men has their arms around the other. They are beaming and looking directly into the camera. Both are wearing their Western Union uniforms.
