    Description

    J. .T. Edwards, yeoman third class, has set up an office in the basement of the United States Courthouse to enroll Fort Worth, Texas, men in the United States Maritime Service. Men who are between the ages of 18 and 34 and who can obtain clearance from their draft boards are eligible. Those under 21 must obtain parents' consent, and married men must obtain the consent of their wives. Three letters of character reference are required of all applicants. Enrollees draw a beginning salary of $50 per month for three months and receive deck officer or engineering training, qualifying them for salaries of $150 to $400 per month. Edwards is wearing his uniform, which consists of a collared shirt, dark colored necktie, trousers and a cap.
