Description
"You could chunk a rock from the Santa Fe Depot and hit the front porch of the rooming house where Hitler, the Mikado, and Charlie....- whose name really ought to be MacArthur- coil, and rattle and slither- and scare the daylights out of most people. This trio, plus a rather anemic one with insufficient personality to rate a name, are the most impressive mess of snakes you ever saw and they're viewed with downright affection by their owner, J. O. Lane, a sort of self-styled medicine man." A snake named "The Mikado" appears to be held erect by a snake hook, its body twisted. The snake's mouth appears to be ajar. Dirt and plant debris are littering the foreground. In the shade of the top right corner are a pair of feet and a couple of chair legs.
