Description

The grand champion steer of the 1942 Southwestern Exposition and Fat Stock Show being sold at auction. Standing behind the steer, left to right, are John C. Burns, president of the exposition, R. G. Brantley, district manager for Pabst Brewing Company, buyer of the steer, and Milton Eckert, the 4-H Club boy from Mason County, Texas, who showed the steer. Burns and Brantley are both wearing double-breasted, dark suits and hats and are smoking cigars. Brantley is also wearing eyeglasses. Eckert is wearing a hat, trousers and a leather jacket. The steer is adorned with ribbons on either side of its ears. Behind the three men and steer are other men who are looking on at the sale of the animal.
