    Description

    "Mac," 12-month-old Hereford, the grand champion steer of the 1942 Southwestern Exposition and Fat Stock Show. Standing behind the animal are, left to right, Milton Eckert, of Mason County 4-H Club, who owns and fed the steer; R. J. Kinzer, of Kansas City, Missouri, secretary of the American Hereford Association; Alex McDonald, of Davis, California, judge of the Hereford breeding classes; Frank Newsom, Mason County agent who supervised feeding of the calf, and Wesley Eckert, father of Milton. Kinzer, McDonald, and Newsom are wearing dark suits. Milton is wearing a pair of trousers and striped, long-sleeve shirt. Mr. Eckers is wearing a collared shirt, a leather jacket and trousers. All five are also wearing cowboy hats.
