Description
A project to widen and repave Hemphill Street between Magnolia Avenue and Biddison Street is underway. The curbs are to be set back and the pavement widened from 40 to 54 feet. The improvement, costing $178,000, is being made by the State Highway Department. Shown here is a contrast between the newly paved section of the street and the section being prepared for paving. On the paved section, there are two parked automobiles, and a few driving up the street. In the distance, a Road Roller drives down the unpaved section, compacting the soil.
