Description

Three Michigan soldiers, en route to Camp Barkeley, Abilene, Texas, attended the United Service Organization (U. S. O.) dance at Hotel Texas. The dancing couples, left to right, are Miss Bobbie Wreay, 20, and Private George Woodley, of Benton Harbor, Michigan; Miss Irene Breese, 18, a freshman at North Texas State Teachers College, and Private Kenneth Peters, of Ithaca, Michigan; and Miss Mildred Wheeler, 24, and Private Clare Swihart, of Owosso, Michigan. There is an unidentified man standing at the far right, with his back to the camera. The soldiers are wearing their military uniforms. The women are dressed in cowgirl costumes. Miss Wreay is wearing a long-sleeve blouse, a bandanna around her neck, a cowboy hat, cowboy boots and a skirt. Miss Breese is wearing a plaid print blouse, skirt, cowboy hat and cowboy boots. Miss Wheeler is wearing a collared, long-sleeve blouse, a skirt, a cowboy hat and cowboy boots.
