Shown here these three pages will present a pageant of foods each day as a highlight of The Star-Telegram's thirty-third annual Better Meals Cooking School at Will Rogers Memorial Auditorium, which began Tuesday and will continue from 2 to 4:30 p. m. daily through Friday. The housewife's role in national defense is stressed at the school. Left to right the pages are Miss Myrle Kuhn, Miss Janice Echols and Miss Jessie Magourik. The three women are standing in front of a stripped banner, the top part of the banner showing the words "BETTER MEALS MEAN BETTER HEALTH FOR HOME DEFENSE." Miss Kuhn is wearing a long-sleeve shirt, necktie, garrison cap, and calf-length skirt in the style of the United States Army. She is saluting with her right hand. She is also wearing two toned heels. Miss Echols is wearing a light colored dress, with two horizontal strips along the bottom of each short sleeve, and a light colored apron trimmed with a stripped fabric. She is holding a plate of food with both hands. She is also wearing a pair of dark heels. Miss Magourik is wearing a dark top and skirt in the style of the United States Navy dress uniform. Two vertical rows of six buttons are placed along the front of the skirt. She is saluting with her right hand, and wearing a beret with three stars along the crown of the hat. She is also wearing dark peep-toed heels with laces in the front. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, March 11, 1942.
