Description
Two cachets: cover from Marine Barracks, Naval Operations Base, Bermuda and cover from Marine Detachment at Newfoundland. The Marine Barracks cover features a drawing of a factory with belching smokestacks, an airplane, a train and patriotic bunting. The second cachet features a drawing of both the United States and Great Britain's Union Jack flags on flagpoles and tilted to form a "V" shape. Within that space is the letter V. Above that is a hand posed in the "thumbs up! position. Above the thumb is the slogan "V for Victory." The names L. W. Staehle and Fleetwood are part of the design. Both were created by the Fleetwood Cover Service and designed by L. W. Staehle, well known for his award-winning cachets.
