Description
Judy Garland and her husband, David Rose are visiting Fort Worth, Texas. Miss Garland is set to perform in a United Service Organizations (U. S. O.) show for the soldiers at Camp Wolters in Mineral Wells, Texas. The couple is shown arriving at the Texas and Pacific Railway Station with an escort of Fort Worth Military Police. Ms. Garland is the first honorary woman member of the military police of World War II. The officers are left to right Private L. M. Howell, Corporal L. A. Owen, Private Jack Betz, Private N. O. Shepherd, and Private Robert Cooper. The officers are dressed in their military uniforms. Mr. Rose, a composer and director, is wearing a buttoned winter coat. Miss Garland, famous for her role in the Wizard of Oz, is wearing a button-up blouse, skirt, a fur coat, and a brooch. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, January 30, 1942.
