Description
Eight months earlier Cleland E. Early graduated from Texas Christian University and enlisted in the United States Marines. He returned to Fort Worth, Texas a lieutenant. The twenty-two year old West Texan from Stinnett attended a six-month officers' training school in Quantico, Virginia with 359 other young men. Lieutenant Early is returning to TCU to recruit other students into the program. He will later visit Hardin-Simmons University, Baylor, and Southern Methodist University. Applicants must be college graduates, pass the physical and mental exams and meet the high standards required for officers of the Marines. Lieutenant Early is standing against a wall, dressed in his military uniform. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, January 31, 1942.
