Derrell Palmer is an all-conference tackle on the Texas Christian University football team. His teammates and coaches describe him as agile, aggressive, and popular. Though only nineteen years old, he is a leader of the football team and was elected as one of the Frogs' new captains for the 1942 season. He is shown lounging in a chair, reading the sports section of the Miami Daily News. The article highlights the upcoming Orange Bowl on January 1, 1942. T. C. U. will face the Georgia Bulldogs. The picture depicts star Bulldog halfback, Frankie Sinkwich (21) in an Orange Bowl. Palmer is dressed in a button-up shirt, letterman jacket, and trousers.
