Miss Wanda McDaniel, registered nurse. Image appeared in "Sanatorium Patient Wins Over Odds to Pass Nurse Test," Star-Telegram Evening Edition November 18, 1941. The pride of Elmwood Sanatorium Tuesday was a registered nurse who isn't even a member of the staff. She's a patient and has been since 1934...she passed the examination for the certificate at Dallas September 29 with high honors... credit she says, should go to her physicians Drs. Sim Hursey, Sidney Stout, and H.V. Helbing, and to the Elwood nurses and her friends.
