Flag raising ceremony on roof of new Fort Worth Public Library at 9th Street and Throckmorton Street. Mrs. Simon Freese (in dotted dress), Daughters of the American Republic (D. A. R.) regent, dedicated the flag. Caption reads: "'To the Colors' was sounded by Robert Cranston, R. O. T. C. bugler, as the United States flag was raised Thursday morning, atop the new Fort Worth Library Building. The flag, shields from view Cadet Captain Bobbie Haltom, who raised the colors. Standing between him and Cranston are other cadets; Jack Robinson, Don Samanie, and Preston Stedman. Mrs. Simon Freese (in dark hat and dotted dress), D. A. R. regent, dedicated the flag. Next to Mrs. Freese, left to right, are Rev. Perry Gresham; L. D. White; Mrs. C. I. Gilliland and Mrs. Clyde Eberhardt." Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, June 26, 1939.
