Description
The Garner family home in Red River County in Texas. Mrs. John N. Garner, Sr., the Speaker's mother, is seated in a rocking chair next to a fireplace looking at photos in a frame. It was this family of home loving, land loving people that John Nance Garner, Speaker of the House, left 40 years ago to study law and to dabble in politics. They watch his career now from their homes in Detroit and Texas, where the Garners have lived for more than half a century.
