Description
Jim Toots at the Tarrant County jail in Fort Worth about to be hanged; Daggett and Joe McMillan on right, man on left not identified; caption says "Jim Toots on the Gallows," Approximately 1895. Jim Toots was an alias for Jim Burris. Governor Charles A. Culberson would later commute Toots death sentence to life in prison. In 1902 Governor Joseph Sayers pardoned Jim Toots.
