Description

Artist's rendition, Holocaust memorial, dedicated by Paul and Leah Lewis, Dallas, Texas, 1972. Written front of the Holocaust memorial is "1939-1945 Auschwitz, Bergen-Belsen, Buchenwald, Dachau, Majdanek, Mauthausen, Treblinka, and others." Written on the plaque in front of the memorial is "For these I weep, Lamentations 1:16. This monument is dedicated to the sacred memory of six million men, women, and children... One third of our people... innocent victims of a madman's fury... He ordered the annihilation of our people... The name of Israel to be known no more... Human conscience demands that this monument serves as a solemn admonition to maintain a constant vigilance to preserve liberty for all mankind that never again shall barbarism be tolerated in a civilized world."
