From 1983 through 2003, Ron Carleton served as the Chief of Staff for Martin Frost, member of the US. House of Representatives from the 24th District of Texas (Dallas-Fort Worth) During this time, Carleton's accumulated documents began to reflect socio-political issues prevalent at the national and state level, particularly, the Dallas-Fort Worth area. These papers provide a new perspective on daily operations for Congressional staff. The Ron Carleton Papers are comprised of correspondence, project files, photographs, articles, declassified material, and legal paperwork of Congressman Martin Frost. Prominent subjects include the Superconducting Super Collider, a David Kennerly photograph exhibit, the Lone Star Fund, the Democratic National Convention, and Frost’s 1998 race for Democratic Caucus Chair.
