The International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union (ILGWU) represented workers in the women and children's apparel industries. Local 180 was the local affiliate of the ILGWU in San Antonio, Texas and participated in strikes against garment manufacturers in 1936 for better working conditions and against the Tex-Son Company in 1959 due to the outsourcing of labor. The Tex-Son strike was marked by violent episodes and supporters from labor unions across Texas joined in strike and solidarity activities. The picket lines at times even included children protesting alongside their mothers. Tex-Son management refused to budge and the strike finally came to an end in 1961. Materials document the Tex-Son Strike of 1959 and include photographs, clippings, handbills, and correspondence.
