Idella Rowden Hall (1911-1998) was an African American woman born in Ennis, Texas. Hall lived her adult life in Dallas and Houston. She was a long-time member of the St. Johns Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas and the Southern Region Church Usher’s Association elected Mrs. Hall as the first woman president of the Usher Board for the church in 1953. Hall graduated as a cosmetologist from the National Beauty Culturist League Convention in Chicago in 1954. Mrs. Hall was a member of the Beauty Shop Owners Guild and the Alpha Chi Pi Omega Sorority. Mrs. Hall, along with her husband Lt. Anthony Hall, was a member of the Texas Peace Officers Association in Houston, where she served as vice president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Texas Peace Officers Association in 1963. The bulk of the collection is comprised of photographs of her graduating, with family and friends, and with the organizations that she was a part of.
