Description
Aerial view of USS Liscome Bay CVE-56, ferrying aircraft to San Diego, September 20, 1943, with a load of SBD Dauntlesses, TBF Avengers and F4F Wildcats. Doris "Dorie" Miller was killed on November 24, 1943 aboard USS Liscome Bay (CVE 56) when the ship was hit by a torpedo and sank off Butaritari Atoll in the Gilbert Islands.
