Internationally recognized glass artist David Keens taught in the University of Texas at Arlington Department of Art and Art History from 1974 until his retirement in 2013. He established the art glass program, oversaw the construction of the Studio Arts Center and mounted solo exhibitions in many museums and galleries. His artwork can be found in permanent collections worldwide, including the White House in Washington, D.C. In 2007, Keens was named the Texas State Artist in Three-Dimensional Media and was inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Scholars. The personal papers of David Keens document his professional life as an artist and professor at UT Arlington. The collection is comprised of biographical information, exhibition materials, photographs, slides, correspondence, negatives, course materials, printed materials, reports, VHS and DVD videos, and a model of the glass installation at the UT Arlington University Club.
