Family members gathered on the front porch are (from left) father George, son Marvin, daughter Gladys and mother Barbara. Mr. Lutes is sitting in a rocking chair and reading a newspaper. He's wearing a hat and suit. Marvin is wearing a shirt and trousers tucked into his boots. Gladys is wearing a white dress, white leggings and a large white bow in her hair. Barbara is wearing a long white dress. Next to Mrs. Lutes is a porch swing. There's dog standing at the edge of the porch. A picket fence runs along the front of the house and an automobile is parked in a driveway next to the house. Behind the car is a shed; there are several trees in the yard. The house is built of wood while the street in front of the house is of dirt construction.
