    Description

Postcard photo of Church Oak in New Braunfels, Texas, ca. 1890. Note on the verso of the postcard reads "As the live oak was about the year 1890." There are four people posing under the oak tree. It is believed that the Abbe Em. Domenech held a Catholic mass under the tree in 1849 to celebrate the release of a German hostage from an indigenous Indian tribe nearby.
