The Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization (PATCO), Southwest Region, was established on January 3, 1968, with a membership of fifteen. Slowdowns, sick-ins, and a fractious relationship with the Federal Aviation Administration characterized the union's brief, but turbulent life.
