Abstract
Adolph Fuchs was an immigrant; the Lutheran minister, he left Mecklenburg-Schwerin, in present-day northeastern Germany in 1845 and came to Texas. In our library’s Special Collections here at UT Arlington we have a pamphlet that was published in San Antonio after he came to Texas, rendering in print his last sermon to his congregation in the old country. In this sermon he explained what made him make such a momentous decision, for he came bringing his wife and seven children, and they made their home in Texas for the rest of their lives. What follows is the text of that pamphlet, translated into English. Notes and commentary follow the translation.
