Abstract
A common problem is the keeping track of products in our kitchen/pantry. This work aims to tackle that problem by providing an inventory for these products and our team’s focus has been on beer. We developed an android application which uses an in-built barcode scanner (through the phone’s camera) which detects the barcode number of a beer scanned. The application sends this data to the database which searches the beer dataset for the information associated with this number. This process automates the way users can add and remove inventory. Lastly, users add an expiry date associated with the beer to allow the application to send notifications when the beer is about to expire. We created the beer dataset, and it can be updated if a beer is not found. With further modifications, this application can be further developed to keep an inventory of a variety of beverage products.
