Abstract
Design work from the 1992 spring semester, Studio Martin Price, School of Architecture, The University of Texas at Arlington. Theatre 3. The site is a large, open green space adjacent to the Meyerson Concert Hall in Dallas. A rhythmic wave-like composition is produced by raising sections of land upward and lowering sections downward. The small scale arena-type theatre is positioned under the raised section facing the street. The lowered section brings the sky down into the land, providing daylight to the below-grade parking entrance to the concert hall. The land then rises up to contain restaurants. The land climbs up again to form an outdoor concert stage, and sloped seating is positioned so the audience is facing the stage with their backs to a major highway.
