Abstract

Design work from the 1986 fall semester, Studio Martin Price, School of Architecture, The University of Texas at Arlington. Community Centre. Robin D Hudson, scheme one, and Joseph Scott Brian, scheme two. The site is along highway 30 in Arlington adjacent to an amusement park and a water park. The form of scheme one rises from the ground where it contains a swimming pool, parallels the highway, changes direction and bridges over the highway with a restaurant. It then descends, appearing to go under the existing creek only to rise again on the other side with an outdoor theatre. The saddle-type roof form of scheme two diagonally grafts on to both sides of highway 360. On the ground it contains a swimming pool which has a moveable roof, and rises in a torqued motion to a restaurant which bridges over highway 30.
