Abstract
Cross section properties are crucial in the analysis and design of beams as they play a key role in the determination of the stress state encountered. The development of an FEM tool in MATLAB for the calculation of beam cross section properties will be discussed. Properties of interest include general cross section properties as well as the non-trivial warping-dependent properties for both the unrestrained and restrained cross section conditions for solid and hollow, open and closed sections.
