Description
Many a homeowner has trouble getting grass to grow in his yard but vegetation seems to have no problem thriving in the downtown area, much of it on city-owned property. Weeds flourish even across from City Hall on Monroe Street, and at Taylor and 7th, Lamar and 5th and Burnet and 6th to show just a few places. The city's sidewalks seems to have a fertilizing effect on the plants. The anti-weed ordinance hardly applies in the downtown area since it only covers lots where weeds average 12 or more over the whole area. Fort Worth Star-Telegram Evening edition May 9, 1963
