Description
The Thonet bentwood rocker at left is described by its owner, Raymond Entenmann, director of the Fort Worth Art Center, as the "earliest contemporary design". Chairs of this type were produced in Austria in the 1860s and are typical of the Art Nouveau era of the late 19th Century. Their virtues were rediscovered by Le Corbusier, who designed the pictured chair made by Stendig. Fort Worth Star-Telegram Evening edition February 8, 1965.
